Europe on the Move. Description

Europe on the Move

The project ‘EUROPE ON THE MOVE’ will join together pupils, teachers and the wider educational community from Bulgaria, France, Great Britain, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden on a cross-curricular basis involving a wide range of subjects (chemistry, biology, mathematics, P.E, mother-tongue and foreign languages, history, social studies, art, home economics, and ICT).During ‘YEAR 1: HEALTHY EATING’, pupils will discover lifestyles and eating habits in Europe through the collaborative elaboration of food diaries. These productions will help them develop their knowledge and reflect on nutrition and the effects of food and activity on the body. They will further experience these new discoveries during two visits in partner countries during which they will elaborate and analyse European charts and finalize a bilingual European healthy eating cookbook. The students will be given the task to go shopping for food in order to cook European meals together. During ‘YEAR 2: STAYING FIT’, pupils will focus on sport and leisure in their area and region. They will have to research and produce a guide in a foreign language, which will reflect each community, culture and identity. These guides will be shared between partner countries to promote discussion and comparison during a third visit. For the final part of the two-year period, the pupils will make presentations and posters, which will provide a historical perspective on the Olympic games nationally. The Olympic spirit will be further experience through quizzes and sport events which will be held to bring together the partner countries during the 4th visit.
