Presentación del Primer año Comenius

Hoy lunes 20 de junio, los alumnos de 2 ESO han presentado en el auditorio de Chapinería un resumen de las actividades realizadas durante el primer año del proyecto "Europe on the Move". Los propios alumnos se han encargado de crear y presentar el documento ante sus compañeros, familiares y autoridades locales. Al final se repartieron los nuevos calendarios para el curso próximo. Los alumnos los venderán durante estos meses. Cuantos más compremos, más estaremos apoyando a nuestros estudiantes. Los profesores son los primeros que ya han comprado. Anímate!

Presentation of the First Comenius Year

Today, Monday 20^th June, the students of 2 ESO have presented, in the auditorium of Chapinería, a summary of the activities undertaken during the first year of the ``Europe on the move´´ project. The students themselves have taken charge of creating and presenting the document before their classmates, families and local authorities. At the end, the new calendars for next academic year were distributed. The students will sell them during these months. The more we buy, the more we will be helping our students. The teachers are the first ones to have already bought them.

Calendario

Además, hemos preparado un calendario para el próximo curso que los alumnos repartirán entre los familiares y amigos para que tengan un recuerdo de lo que hemos hecho este año. Es una forma de que la gente que venga por casa se entere y sienta un "pelín de envidia" por todo lo que estamos haciendo dentro de este programa europeo tan increíble en nuestro centro. ¡¡¡¡¡ Y aún nos queda otro año para aprender, viajar y seguir haciendo amigos europeos!!!

Furthermore, we are going to prepare a calender for the next year which the students can give out to family and friends in order to have a memory of what we have done this year. It is a way for people to come home and feel a bit of envy for all that we have done within this incredible European program in our school. And we still have another year to learn, travel and continue making European friends!!!

Exposición Comenius en Chapinería

El próximo lunes 20 de junio, los alumnos de 2º de ESO que participan en el programa van a realizar una exposición del trabajo realizado hasta hoy. Será un oportunidad para compartir lo que han aprendido este año. Habrá presentaciones, fotos y videos de los viajes y de otras actividades que se han realizado a lo largo del curso.

La sesión tendrá lugar a las 13.30 horas en el auditorio de Chapinería. Esperamos veros a todos allí!

Comenius Exhibition in Chapinería

Next Monday 20^th of June, the students of 2 ESO which participate in the program are going to create an exhibition of the work carried out up to today. It will be an opportunity to share what they have learnt this year. There will be presentations, photos and videos of the trips and of other activities which have been carried our throughout the year.

The session will take place at 13:30 in the auditorium of Chapinería. We hope to see all of you there!

Hallway Decoration

Cuando los alumnos de secundaria del CEIPS Santo Ángel de la Guarda han llegado esta mañana se han encontrado con un nuevo póster en el hall de entrada. Todo gracias a un grupo de alumnos de segundo de ESO que en la tarde del martes decidieron cambiar la telenovela por las barras de pegamento y los rotuladores . Entre ellos, estaban algunos de los que ya han viajado y también algunos de los que aun no lo han  hecho. El trabajo ha merecido la pena.

Hallway Decoration

When the secondary school students from CEIPS Santo Ángel de la Guarda arrived this morning, they were met with a new poster in the entrance hall. All thanks to a group of students from 2 ESO who, on Tuesday afternoon, decided to swap soap operas for glue sticks and markers. Amongst them, there were some of those who have already travelled and some who haven’t yet. The work has been worthwhile.

Además de la bandera y el mapa (¿Cuántos sabíamos ubicar a Eslovenia en el mapa de Europa hasta ahora?) aparecen las fotos de los viajeros y de su trabajo en la cocina (literalmente J).También se pueden ver imágenes del paisaje de Eslovenia, retratos de nuestras nuevas amistades internacionales, fotos poco académicas de los profes, un paseo por los canales de Venecia y además comentarios de los propios alumnos.

As well as the flag and the map, (how many of us knew where to locate Slovenia on the map of Europe?) there are the photos of the trips and of their work in the kitchen (literally). Also, they can see images of the Slovenian landscape, pictures of our new international friends, slightly academic photos of our teachers, a ride though the channels of Venice, and furthermore, comments from our own students.

 

Junto con el de Estocolmo que se colgó en febrero, ahora ya son dos los pósters Comenius que decoran el Hall. Nos faltan otros dos y cuando los representantes de los otros países nos visiten dentro de un año se van a encontrar con estos resúmenes  visuales de las cuatro visitas que habremos realizado en los dos años del proyecto. Así, a golpe de chincheta, la decoración de la escuela se va internacionalizando.

Together with Stockholm which was hung up in February, already there are now two Comenius posters which decorate the hall. We are missing another two and when representatives from other countries visit us within a year, they are going to be met with these visual summaries of the four visits which we will carry out in the two years of the project. Therefore, the decoration of the school is going to be internationalised.

Yummy! Yummy!

Con tanto hacer amigos y turismo no hemos explicado en detalle el principal objetivo de la visita: Cocinar! Pues sí, dos mil kilómetros para hacer una paella, un gazpacho y una crema catalana! Aunque parezca  trivial, no lo es tanto si tenemos en cuenta que cada pais participaba con tres platos nacionales y se trataba de comparar hábitos y costumbres alimenticias en busca de una dieta sana. En un proyecto cuyo fin último es proponer hábitos de vida saludables hemos querido demostrar que nuestra cocina tradicional proporciona una alimentación sana sin necesidad de recurrir a sacrificios. Las tres recetas, junto a otras seis que se incluirán en el libro internacional de recetas que editaremos conjuntamente, han sido seleccionadas de entre las trabajadas en clase durante el trimestre. Para elaborar los platos, además de meter las manos en la masa, hemos tenido que comunicarnos con nuestros colegas internacionales, lo que nos ha servido para practicar un montón de vocabulario relacionado con los alimentos, utensilios, verbos de cocina, etc.

Por último, omo lo prometido es deuda, aqui dejamos unas cuantas fotos que resumen la visita de esta semana y esperamos que sirvan para dar una idea de la experiencia, eso sí, sin el olor de las especias ;-)

Yummy! Yummy!  

With so much friend making and tourism, we have not explained in detail the main purpose of our visit: cooking! Well yes, two thousand kilometres to make a paella, ``gazpacho´´ and a Catalan cream! Although it seems trivial, it is not so if we take into account that each country participated with three national dishes and were trying to compare eating habits in search of a healthy diet. In a project whose ultimate goal is proposing habits of a healthy lifestyle we wanted to demonstrate that our traditional cooking provides healthy food without needing to resort to sacrifice. The three recipes, as well as the other six which will be included in the international book of recipes which we will edit together, have been selected from among the workers in class during the term.  To make the dishes, as well as putting your hands in, we had to communicate with our international colleagues which has helped us to practice a lot of vocabulary related to food, utensils, verbs for cooking etc.

'I feel S-love-nia'

We all have felt Slovenia! imposible no hacerlo!! ¡Qué país tan bonito y quién lo diría!

We have all felt Slovenia! It is impossible not to do it! What a beautiful county and who would have thought it!



A nuestros compis, que se han impregnado de guardias, también les hemos traído un poco de love: una gorra super chula con "I feel Slovenia"


For our pals, we have brought a little love: a super cool cap with ``I feel Slovenia´´.


En cuanto a la experiencia, nuestro profe Antonio lo ha explicado muy bien. Y es que, a veces, solo a veces, Antonio tiene el don de la palabra y así le quedan las entradas de chulas ;-)

In account of the experience, our teacher Antonio has explained it very well. And it is that, sometimes, only sometimes, Antonio has the gift of the gab and therefore he remains the one with the cool entries ;-)
















Así que yo añado un par de fotitos más: En la primera podéis ver el puente con el arco de piedra más grande del mundo, según nos han dicho!! Bueno, el arco al fondo, porque en primera línea estamos los 8, la "delegación" al completo de Madrid.


So I have added a couple more photos: in the first you can see the bridge with the biggest stone arch in the world, acording to what they told us!! Well, the arch is in the background, because we are the 8 in the first line, the full ``delegation´´ of Madrid.



En la segunda, se ve cómo interactúa nuestra "delegación" con los nativos del lugar. ¿En qué se comunicaban? Buena pregunta! God knows! Lo importante es que creemos que han experimentado una evolución personal sorprendente, algunos más que otros, (¿verdad, Ana?) Así que "Pon un Comenius en tu vida"! Crecerás en todos los sentidos!!!

In the second, you see how our ``delegation´´ interact with natives of the place. How did they communicate? Good question! God knows! The important thing is that we believe they experienced a surprising personal evolution, some more than others, (true Ana?). So ``put Comenius in your life´´!! You will grow in every respect!



Bueno, faltan las fotos de Venecia, que no están en nuestro poder todavía... pero estarán y las compartiremos con vosotros. Y ya hemos quedado para hacer el mural para el cole de este viaje. Le sacaremos fotitos y las pondremos para que veáis como nos queda. Estamos todos muy contentos de cómo se está desarrollando el proyecto y creo que los chicos también han empezado a verlo como algo suyo, algo a lo que se le puede sacar mucho partido. Let's go 4 it!!



Well, the photos from Venecia are missing, we do not have them yet... but we will do and we will share them with you. And we have already been making the mural for the school about this trip. We will take out some pictures and put them on so you can see what we did. We are all very happy with the development of the project and I think the guys have also started to see it as something of theirs, something which they can gain a lot of advantage from. Lets go for it!

Es-LOVE-nia

Con este juego de palabras nos hemos despedido de Eslovenia. Ya estamos de vuelta en casa y metidos de lleno en la ardua tarea de poner orden en el puzzle de fotos videos y demás maravillas de la cosa digital. La primavera, la exhuberancia del paisaje, la amabilidad de los locales y un tiempo más de vacaciones que de días de colegio han conseguido seducir al personal. La escuela anfitriona, las familias, el ayuntamiento y la comunidad en general se han esforzado con recursos y dedicación para que la visita de estos estudiantes y profesores extranjeros fuera un éxito. Un  día la televisión y otro la radio; Vanesa ya concede entrevistas a la prensa local como la mejor “celebrity” :-)

With this play on words, we have said goodbye to Slovenia. We have already arrived home and are involved in the difficult task of sorting out the puzzle of photos, videos and other wonders of the digital thing. Springtime, the amazing landscape, the kindness of the locals and another holiday away from school which has managed to attract the staff. The host school, the families, the town hall and the community in general have strained with resources and dedication in order to make the visit of the foreign students and teachers a big success. One day the television and another the radio; Vanesa has already granted interviews to the local press as the best celebrity :-)

Rence está  a pocos kilómetros de la frontera con Italia. Aunque la lengua oficial del proyecto es el inglés, la mayoría de las familias de Rence hablan esloveno y antes que en inglés les resulta más sencillo comunicarse en italiano. Con esto nuestros estudiantes han pasado unos días de lo más multilingüe!

Rence is a few kilometres from the Italian border. Although the official language of the project is English, most of the families in Rence spoke Slovenian and rather than English, they found it easier to communicate in Italian! With this, our students have spent a few days being more multilingual!

La agenda de actividades se ha cumplido al detalle. Después del gran día de cocina, el viernes visitamos la capital Ljubljana y las impresionantes cuevas de Skocjan (el único lugar de Eslovenia declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO). El sábado, por si las emociones hubieran sido pocas, decidimos pasar el día en Venecia con paseo en góndola incluido :-).

The agenda of activities has been completed in detail. After a big day of cooking, on Friday we visited the capital Ljubljana and the impressive caves in Skocjan (the only place in Slovenia to have declared Patrimony of Humanity for UNESCO). On Saturday, if the emotions had been small, we decided to spend a day in Venice with a ride in a gondola included :-)

Los profesores queremos felicitar a Abel, Ana, Lorena, Pedro y Vanesa por su buen comportamiento y actitud durante el viaje. También nos hemos acordado mucho de José, Miguel y Paula a los que hemos echado de menos y esperamos ver en futuros viajes. Aprovechamos además para animar a todos los alumnos de segundo de ESO a que participen y se involucren en el programa Comenius para poder beneficiarse de esta gran oportunidad. Un poco de esfuerzo continuado y una actitud positiva al final tienen su recompensa!



 The teachers wanted to congratulate Abel, Ana, Lorena, Pedro and Vanesa for their good behaviour and attitude during the trip. Also we have remembered José, Miguel and Paula as we have missed them and hope to see them on future trips. We also take this moment to encourage all students in 2 ESO to participate and get involved in the Comenius project to benefit from this great opportunity. A bit of effort and a positive attitude and in the end they have their reward!

Venezia!
